There are more than 10 islands that belong to Rawai District. They are located within 20 km from southern edge of Phuket. There are some well known and popular and some are uninhabited, here are the top 3 of them to visit if you come to Rawai for the first time.

1. Bon Island (Koh Bon) in Rawai, Phuket

Bon Islands is the closest one (only 1,5km from Phuket) and you can easily get to it from Rawai beach hiring a long-tail boat (taxi). There are three different beaches and on one of them there is a Bon Island Restaurant where you can have a lunch or breakfast if you come early (what is recommended).

2. Coral Island (Koh Hey) close to Phuket

Coral Island is 5km away from Rawai beachfront, it will take 25-30 minutes to arrive there by long-tail, or 10-15 minutes if you hire speedboat.

3. Racha Island (Koh Racha)

Koh Racha is 20km far, you may take long-tail boat, but it will take you about 40-50 minutes to get to the islands. If the ocean is not calm you may have some kind of stress using long-tail. It would be safer to hire a speedboat or join group excursion if you’re only 2-3 person.
